PMS… FYI

I just had to write this down as a reminder to myself and to any interested ladies out there… This month I didn’t have a trace of PMS – no mood swings, no crazy appetite, no whacky cravings, no exhaustion – for the first time since I can remember. And I think the reason can be attributed to not eating processed sugar for the past 2 weeks. That ‘side effect’ alone is enough to make me not want to add it back into my diet. Amazing… My period actually snuck up on me this time, and that NEVER happens. I usually know it’s coming a week out due to the above listed symptoms. I also didn’t gain the usual 3lbs right before getting it, either. It’ll be interesting to see if my period itself will be easier… I’ll update this post next week if it is…

Sugar apparently is a huge contributor to PMS symptoms, so it’s no surprize that you don’t experience as much (or no) adverse effects of PMS :) One of the girls on my blog has mentioned something about the effects that sugar had on her ‘side effects’ too – and I think it wasn’t cutting out processed sugars completely, but was more-or-less a controlled-intake to help her get the flavour/craving that she need to satisfy herself, while reducing her negative experience as the start of her period was pending. Unfortunately there’s too many comments for me to sift through to find it X.x

I still eat fruit and use natural sweeteners like honey and agave nectar, so I’m not ignoring my sweet tooth completely, which makes it a lot easier to forgo eating food with processed sugar added. =)
